πŸŽ‰ 02/18/26 - We’ve solved SMS Marketing Attribution once and for all!

Every SMS platform inflates revenue numbers. We know it. You know it. When a customer subscribes, gets a Welcome message, and buys something they were already going to buy, that sale gets credited to SMS. It shouldn't. We're done with that. TxtCart now gives you full control over how sales are attributed to your messages. No more blanket attribution. No more inflated dashboards. Just honest numbers that reflect what SMS actually drove.

Major Feature Launch: Configurable Global Attribution Settings

TxtCart is the first SMS platform to give merchants real transparency into their attribution. While others pad their numbers, we're letting you decide what counts.

You can now choose from three attribution models:

  • All Conversions - Credit any purchase within the view window, plus link clicks and discount usage (current industry standard)

  • Discount/Link Clicked - Only credit purchases where the customer actually engaged, clicked a link or used a discount code

  • None - Exclude specific flows or messages from attribution entirely

Feature Launch: Multi-Level Attribution Control

Configure attribution at the level that makes sense for your business.

You can now set attribution at three levels:

  • Global (Settings β†’ Messaging) - Three drop downs to set defaults for Promotional Flows, Transactional Flows, and Campaigns separately

  • Per Flow - Use the new "Set Attribution" option in the flow editor menu to override the global setting

  • Per Message Node - Click the gear icon on Send Message and Auto Reply nodes to fine-tune individual messages

The hierarchy is simple: global sets the ceiling, you can then tighten it for specific flows, and can use nodes to drill down even further. You can always get more conservative, never more permissive than your global parent setting.

Update: Smarter Default Attribution Settings

We've updated our default attribution settings to give you more accurate reporting out of the box.

  • Welcome Series flow template now defaults to Discount/Link Clicked attribution, since that first message rarely drives incremental revenue

  • Stores installed before 02/18/26 keep their current settings unless you manually update them

  • New installs from 02/18/26 onward get these smarter defaults automatically

  • All attribution changes apply going forward, not retroactively

  • Note: Discount/Link Clicked is not available for Campaigns at this time.
